a treasury of treasuries

??I’ve been featured in some really great treasuries lately, so thought I would do a little treasury of my own and show you some of my favs from the last month or so.

1. Chocolate High – one of several lucious chocolate treasuries I’ve been in lately. ?If you have a sweet tooth, view a few other chocolate collections here, here and here.

2. Travel the World – love, love, LOVE this collection.

3. Gifts to show you love – a local V-day collection

4. Eclectic and Cool – a funky, local collection

Now, see how versatile soap can be?

It takes time to create these beautiful treasuries, and I’m happy to be included in them! ?I’m going to try to do a better job of sharing these on my blog, but we’ll see how that goes.

the end.

lots of fun stuff going on here

I am once again a blogging delinquent and have seemingly abandoned my blog. ?To my 3 or 4 lonely readers – I’m sorry. ?I have failed you once again. ?But I’m not going to promise it won’t happen again, ’cause the fact of the matter is that it might. ?Turns out I’m just not all that good at blogging on a regular basis. ?Enough of that, and on to the good stuff.

They say it’s my birthday….

First off, today is my birthday. ?I’m 29 today, on the 29th (fancy, I know). ?I usually look forward to my birthday quite a bit, but this year seems bittersweet since next time it will be the big 3-0. ?I also broke my ‘no decorating for Christmas until after my birthday’ rule for the very first time this year. ?Oh well, it was kind of a dumb rule anyway.

Funky Finds in Fort Worth this weekend!

This weekend is the Funky Finds Experience 2-day, all handmade craft show. ?I’ve been looking forward to this show for a while, and I think it’s going to be a great one. ?I’m hoping to do most of my Christmas shopping at it as well, and have already given hubby some tips on participating vendors I like for birthday and Christmas gifts. ?;)

Funky Finds is a FREE event happening both Saturday and Sunday, featuring more than 130 local, handmade vendors. ?It is a juried show, so you can expect the best of the local handmade artisans to be there. ?There will also be swag bags for the first 50 attendees each day (plan to line up early for these), raffle prizes throughout the weekend, a toy drive for toys for tots, live music and a free photo booth. ?Sounds like a good weekend to me!

whoa – it's a double market day…so intense

Tomorrow is my first day to have 2 shows in one day, and I’m a little nervous. ?I knew it would be a lot of work to get everything ready for 2 shows at the same time, but I think I underestimated how much work. ?I’ve been wrapping soap, making lotion bars, lip balms and scrubs and packaging like crazy this week. ?I’m just about ready and am going to set-up for the Cowtown Indie Bazaar later today.

Here’s where we’ll be:

The New Public Market is happening from 8-2 tomorrow. ?Word on the street is the Cooking Channel is going to be there filming one of the local vendors (Machacek Bakery) for their show Food Crafters. ?Pretty exciting for our little farmers market, and so great for the bakery. ?I won’t be at this market, but Mr. Soap Addict (Joey) will be ‘manning’ (haha) the booth all by himself.

I’ll be at The Cowtown Indie Bazaar just a few miles away. ?This is my first major show of the fall season, and I think it’s going to be great. ?It’s being hosted by Etsy Fort Worth, a group of local Etsy artisans that I’m a part of. ?There are going to be more than 80 local, handmade artisans, live music, goodie bags for the first 50 in the door, raffle prizes and activities for the kiddos. ?It’s a free event and goes all day from 9-6.

I think it’s going to be a great way to kick off the holiday weekend!

swirly soap!

I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to get a swirled soap that I think looks good for a while. ?Every time I do a test batch, something seems to go wrong and it doesn’t swirl. ?It either traces too quickly and is too thick to swirl, or doesn’t get quite thick enough and just blends together. ?I even made the mistake of trying to swirl a light color into a dark and the light just disappeared into the soap. ?Oops.

Well here it is folks – my first successful swirl. ?I like it – what do you think?

pine orange scented soap colored with Spirulina

This is a new soap I’m testing out that I may do for the holidays. ?It’s scented with pine and orange, and colored with Spirulina powder. ?When I first cut it, it was this beautiful bright green color. ?After curing for about 3 weeks, it’s faded quite a bit to a brownish green. ?I think the color works for a pine soap, but I’ll have to try something else for a true green.

Cowtown Indie Bazaar goody bag sneak peek

It’s less than 2 weeks until the Cowtown Indie Bazaar in Fort Worth, and I’m pumped. ?This is going to be a great show, sponsored by Etsy Fort Worth, a group of local Etsy artisans of which I am a member. ?I really enjoy doing shows that only allow handmade artisans, and I always have a hard time not spending all of my earnings.

I decided to donate mini soaps to the goody bags for this event, and the Etsy Fort Worth blog has a great sneak peek into the bags I thought I would share. ?The bags are FREE to the first 50 people to show up, and from what I hear they are going to be stuffed to the brim. ?Free goodies and samples practically exploding out the top. ?If I qualified for a free bag (I don’t since I’m a vendor), I would most definitely be there at 9 when the doors open to snag one of these babies.

Check out the full article here.

The Cowtown Indie Bazaar will be held Saturday, September 4 from 9am – 6pm at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. ?Admission to the event is free.

First Saturday = New Public Market day!

Tomorrow is the first Saturday of the month, which means it’s New Public Market?Day in Fort Worth.? This is my favorite monthly market – I wish it were more often.? For all you Fort Worth locals that haven’t checked it out yet, it’s at the corner of Hulen and Camp Bowie in the parking lot of the ‘Into the Garden’ store.? Everything at this market is locally produced within 150 miles of Fort Worth.? There are usually at least 10 different vendors, plus lots of other local stuff on hand.? A great selection of local produce, baked goods, tamales (my favorite!!), meat, cheese, homemade pasta, olive oil, honey and lots of other goodies.?

I’ll be there with the other local vendors braving the heat from 8-1, or until sell-out.? Would love to see you there!

my blogging confession, and body scrubs

I am a blog posting delinquent.? It has been 3 weeks since my last blog post.? I was doing pretty good there for a while and posting more regularly, and then, I just don’t know what happened.? I guess I haven’t had anything interesting to say.? Or maybe it’s because I always forget to take pictures of the interesting things I am doing and I feel like a blog post without a picture is not worthy.? Either way, I’m back from hiatus and have some fun new posts planned.? I’m putting that out there to hold myself accountable.? I feel better now.

Now, on to the body scrubs.? I’ve been making these salt and sugar scrubs for a few months now, but have just now posted them on Etsy.? These scrubs are, of course, all natural with no preservatives or artificial anything and are scented with essential oils.? They are really popular at craft shows and markets, and I have several customers who are already hooked on them.? They tell me they don’t need moisturizer after they use them in the shower – they’re that good.? I’m just sayin’.?? Check them out on Etsy (shameless plug).

Where I'll be this weekend

This Sunday I’m doing an event at Lola’s Saloon in Fort Worth called the Panther City Bar Bazaar, and I’m pumped!? This is definitely?the one of the most unique event I’ve done…it’s at a bar and there will be lots of live music all day.? Lots of my fellow Etsy Fort Worth members will be there as well, so thought I’d share the list of artisans in attendance.? Lots of great stuff!

There will also be several bands playing throughout the day – check out the list on the event Facebook page.

See you there!

my weekend market finds

The spring craft show season is winding down, and this was my last busy show weekend for a while.? One of my favorite things about doing different shows is shopping all of the other booths!? I usually try to just look and not buy anything, but I?lacked will power?this weekend.? Here’s what I scored from other local artisans around Fort Worth.

On Saturday I was at Arts Goggle in Fort Worth with several other great artists in my immediate area.? The later it got, the fewer people there were, so what else am I to do but shop?

I love everything that Cindy at Revel Designs?makes, and I got this reusable sandwich wrap for my husband who takes sandwiches for lunch all the time.? It has chalkboard fabric on the front, and she had tons of cute patterns to choose from.? This was the most manly of the bunch, so hopefully hubby won’t be picked on by the other less savvy men at the office.? He’s man enough to take it.

the open sandwich wrap doubles as a place mat - how cute is that?

Soy based hand poured candle, made by Deletia?R. Basden?(drbasden@gmail.com) of SCENTILATING.? I got a fragrance blend of peppermint, rosemary, lavender and grapefruit.? A great candle, and I love the simple, classic packaging.?

peppermint, rosemary, lavender and grapefruit - yum!

Sunday I sold my soap at the new Beach Street Market that takes place the 3rd Sunday of every month.? A food market like this is especially dangerous for me – I’m a bit of a foodie, and a sucker for anything handmade.? I was somewhat contained, and only walked away with 2 items:

Almond Rocca from Cece’s?Citchen?in Fort Worth, Texas.? OMG – this is soooo good.? Chocolate, toffee and almonds.? Need I say more?? I’m staring at the bag right now trying to control myself.? Nope, can’t do it…going for another piece.

Organic, fair trade, fresh roasted?coffee from?AduroBean in Fort Worth.? I’m not really a coffee drinker, but have some big soap plans for this fabulous smelling coffee.? It’s fresh roasted and this variety has a little chocolate smell as well.? I see a mocha soap in my future.? I was parked right next to Rupert from AduroBean at the market and we ended up chatting for much of the market.? Great guy and great coffee.

Wonder what I’ll find next time?
